Lilac Seaside

Lilac Seaside

Tones: Lavender, Indigo, Sea Foam, Copper, Buttercream

About The Print: A small sailboat sits shoreside backdropped but an evening sea and sky colored in purple hues. Oil on board.

About The Artist: Władysław Wankie was a Polish painter and art critic, born in Warsaw. He trained in there under Wojciech Gerson and Aleksander Kamiński, then briefly in Kraków with Władysław Łuszczkiewicz and Jan Matejko. His early work included genre scenes and sentimental compositions; later his style evolved toward atmospheric, symbolic, religious subjects and coastal landscapes featuring fishermen or women in traditional dress. He was active in Warsaw’s art scene, both as a creator and critic — he edited art sections in journals, was involved with artistic societies, and worked to promote more figurative, emotional approaches in painting.
